Project overview
At the top of Silicon Valley, the Town of Los Altos Hills is making climate leadership local – and visible. Outside its Town Hall, a Haven solar shelter offers shade, charging, and a solar-powered invitation to learn through something you don’t often see on a picnic table: a decarbonization kiosk.
Funded through Silicon Valley Clean Energy’s Decarbonization Grant program, the kiosk shares information about clean energy incentives, town-wide sustainability goals, and how simple it can be to make the switch from fossil fuels. It’s a place to learn, recharge, and be part of the town’s ambitious goal of being fossil-fuel-free by 2045.
As California pushes toward a cleaner grid, Los Altos Hills is showing what local commitment looks like: practical infrastructure, smart partnerships, and a solar shelter that starts conversations.
It’s part solar-powered gathering space, part how-to manual for a better future.
