Project overview
At the top of Silicon Valley, the Town of Los Altos Hills is making climate leadership local – and visible. Outside its Town Hall, a Haven solar shelter offers shade, charging, and a solar-powered invitation to learn through something you don’t often see on a picnic table: a decarbonization kiosk. The kiosk provides information on how the town is reducing local emissions, improving air quality, and maintaining uninterrupted power.
Funded through Silicon Valley Clean Energy’s Decarbonization Grant program, the kiosk shares information about clean energy incentives, town-wide sustainability goals, and how simple it can be to make the switch from fossil fuels. It’s a place to learn, recharge, and be part of the town’s ambitious goal of being fossil-fuel-free by 2045.
As California pushes toward a cleaner grid, Los Altos Hills is showing what local commitment looks like: practical infrastructure, smart partnerships, and a solar shelter that starts conversations.
It’s part solar-powered gathering space, part how-to manual for a better future.
