Project overview

The Puschel Preserve, protected and managed by the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, became the first nature preserve to host a Haven solar shelter in 2024. Designed to provide clean energy and shaded rest in natural spaces, the Haven quickly proved it was built for more than just everyday use.

Later that year, Hurricanes Milton and Helene passed through the Gulf of Mexico. While Sanibel avoided major wind damage, the area experienced a significant storm surge. Despite the challenging conditions, the Haven held up without issue. Its elevated electrical system stayed safely above water, and the durable materials and thoughtful engineering helped it withstand the impact of extreme weather.

No damage, no repairs needed - standing as a testament to quality and care, even under the toughest conditions.

At Puschel Preserve, the Haven solar shelter is both a reliable source of shade and solar power, and a quiet example of how resilient, thoughtful design can make a real difference, even when nature puts it to the test.
